Baldness - A Solution To Regenerate Hair

Here are some promising results. Japanese researchers said they managed to recreate the hair follicles using stem cells from a mouse. The process may help regrow hair, if successful in men.

Although it is an experiment with mice, scientists hope it can help men suffering from baldness to regrow hair.

To this, Professor Takashi Tsuji and colleagues at the Tokyo Science University have isolated two types of skin stem cells, which contain between them all the instructions needed to create the hair follicles.

Then, cells grown in the laboratory to form immature follicles. They then implanted these structures in the back of hairless mice. After two to three weeks, we learned that the hair follicles was fully operational real hair color.

"The hair follicle develops transgenic appropriate structure and form appropriate connections with the surrounding host tissues such as skin or hair erector muscles and nerves," said the researchers led by Professor Takashi Tsuji.

Note that the Japanese team had already achieved a remarkable experience last year successfully growing a tooth implanted cells in a mouse kidney. The scientists then transplanted into another mouse gum and confirmed that could be adapted to the oral environment, connect to the nerves and blood vessels, as if it were a natural tooth can read a press release.

Professor Tsuji, explains: "Our studies demonstrate the potential not only for regenerative therapies of hair, but also the replacement organs re-created." This process opens the way for future regenerative therapies.

Baldness is largely a male phenomenon. However, some women suffer, especially after pregnancy. Hair loss is on average between 20 and 35, but can start later.
